EPL 2012/2013 season - The Road so Far

The concurrent English Premier League season recently reached the halfway mark in December; and although this season has been marked with many fabulous matches and glimpses of brilliances, the quality of the world's most famous league has slumped. League Leaders Manchester United have been scoring some wonderful goals, most due to Robin Van Persie --who was was snapped up for a mere 25 million in the summer from rivals Arsenal. However, defensive errors and instability at the back remains a worry for the league leaders.
Current Champions Manchester City, funded by oil rich Abu Dhabi owners too have failed to make a mark on the Premier League. The star-studded team has failed to replicate their marvellous form from the previous season, and have struggled against many teams. The team is also rumoured to lose the brilliant, yet troubled striker Mario Balotelli this sumnmer, after the Italian was involved in a scuffle with manager Roberto Mancini.
Newcastle United, who finished last year at sixth position, have also struggled this season. A purple patch for Pappis Demba Cisse, and injuries to key players such as Chieck Tiote and Hatem Ben Arfa have hampered their form.
Fellow Premier League club Liverpool, who hired acclaimed manager Brendan Rodgers too have struggled this season, with constant fluxes of position changes.
Other Premier League clubs too have struggled --including sides such as Sunderland etc. The Premier League so far, while exciting at times, has also been disappointing and one can only hope for improvement in the second half of the season.
